Merge / Convert

  • Merge: Removes reference data and merges everything into a single scene.
  • Convert: Use this when you want to convert merged data back into reference nodes. (The file path will temporarily display as CONVERT, and you can re-link to the original file using the Replace function.)

✅ CONVERT Feature - Correct Selection Method

Fast-Ref's Convert function automatically includes the selected node and all its child nodes beneath it.

Therefore, to Convert Character A:

📌 Method 1: Select Top-Level Nodes (Recommended)

  • Select only the topmost nodes in the world hierarchy
  • Example: Switch the outliner to hierarchy sort as shown in the image, then select only the Root, Grp_Mod, and Rig_Mable nodes
  • ✅ Fast-Ref will automatically recognize all nodes underneath

📌 Method 2: Use Layers (When Layers Are Organized)

  • If all nodes related to Character A are organized in a single layer,
  • select that layer to select all nodes at once
  • then proceed with Convert

⚠️ Cautions

  • ❌ Do not select only some Biped Bones
  • ❌ Do not select only mid-level hierarchy nodes

💡 Verification Method

When you press the Convert button, a confirmation dialog saying "Convert XX object(s)..." will appear.

  • Verify that this number matches the total node count of the character
  • If too few → the selection is incorrect (Cancel and re-select)
