This post is not a version changelog. It is a status board for items we are actively fixing and items already shipped.

If something feels awkward or blocked, that is not "just how this tool is." It is a known item we are working on. The list below shows exactly what we are fixing.

1. Connector does not attach automatically after restarting Max (26.0816) — v1.4.7

In some environments, if an earlier script in the 3ds Max startup folder fails, the SkinLayer Studio connector later in the list may never run.
This is not a bad install. Pressing [Re] in the studio can also fail, because there is nothing running to reconnect to.

This shipped in v1.4.7 so auto-connect is more reliable and more obvious.

2. Offset mismatch between Max and SkinLayer Studio on Pick (26.0815) — v1.4.7

For Biped, frame 0 should match the Bind Pose (the skin start pose).
On Pick, Biped now switches to Figure Mode temporarily, reads the Bind Pose, then restores the previous state. This shipped in v1.4.7.

This is actually the workflow we most want to recommend to 3ds Max game studios right now — and Rowa has applied it so well in real production that we're happy to introduce it as a great reference.

Pipeline Flow

1. Initial rigging (Init) with BipedPlus
2. Skinning with SkinLayer Studio
3. Animation work with BipedPlus animation tools

SkinLayer Studio is currently in beta testing.

First of all, thank you sincerely for your interest in BipedPlus.

After carefully reviewing the feedback we've received over time, we have an important announcement to share.

BipedPlus was originally designed as a full package for rigging setup specialists (e.g. Riggers, TAs, and Animators dedicated to rigging).
However, we've confirmed that when animators use it, the Edit tab features for setup and rigging are rarely needed.

Animators primarily work on animation on top of rigs built with BipedPlus, and we've received feedback that some animators end up purchasing the full package — which includes setup tools they simply don't use.

With this in mind, we are preparing a separate edition containing only the features essential for animation work, to reduce the burden on users.

• The price is currently under internal discussion. We are considering making it free or available at a small fee, and will announce the final decision once confirmed.
• We believe this will be especially welcome news for studios seriously considering adopting BipedPlus.
• It will also make it much easier to share rigs created with BipedPlus with your team members.

✉️ A Note for Those Who Already Purchased the Full Package

If you find the Edit tab (Build-related features) unnecessary but have already purchased the full package before the Animator Edition was planned, we want to honor your trust and put your interests first.
- Please feel free to reach out to us via our official email.
- Once we hear from you, we will provide personalized guidance and individual accommodations tailored to your situation.

🙏 A Note for Teams Considering a Purchase

Since the Animator Edition has not yet been officially released, we recommend holding off on having all team members purchase the full package for now.

• For now, please have only the rigger(s) on your team purchase the full package (BipedPlus).
• We recommend that animators wait until the Animator Edition is released before purchasing.

We plan to complete the Animator Edition update by June 27 and provide a final announcement. Please wait just a little longer — we'll return with a polished, high-quality version.

■ Issue

After March 7, 2026, the Phase 2 Early Access signup page (Individual/Corporate) required an event code as mandatory.

Even though the event period had ended, applications were blocked without a code,

showing the message "This event has ended" and preventing users from proceeding.

■ Resolution

The event code field has been changed to optional.

If you have a valid code, entering it will apply the benefit;

you can also proceed with the application normally without a code.
